  •  Preferred combination
  • ○ Permitted combination
  • – Not recommended
  • a The test stress specified takes into account the fact that the hardness of the test mandrel used in the proof load test is greater than the hardness of the bolts with which the nuts are combined. As a result, the test stress is always higher than the highest minimum tensile strength of the bolt recommended for use in the combination
  • b The test stresses given here are higher than those specified in DIN EN ISO 3506-2 in order to identify fully loadable nuts in the proof load test. While nuts of property classes 70 and 80 to DIN EN ISO 3506-2 with small diameters produced in large batches are usually cold-formed and property class 50 is only supplied hot-formed for larger diameters, special nuts to DIN 267-13 are required to be machined from steel bars when produced in small batches. As these bars obtain their strength through strainhardening (drawing), with the result that their mechanical properties are not uniform over their cross section, there is a risk that the nuts manufactured from such bars will achieve the low test stress in the proof load test to DIN EN ISO 3506-2 using a hardened mandrel, but that they will fail before the minimum failure load is reached when they are combined with a softer bolt. For this reason, it has been deemed necessary to specify higher test stresses.

Marking

Product Shall be Marked with our manufacturing trade mark Adfast Component LTD along with the designated Grade.
Grade and manufacturer’s identification symbols shall be applied to one end of studs and to the heads of bolts and screws of all sizes. (If the available area is inadequate, the grade symbol may be marked on one end and the manufacturer’s identification symbol marked on the other end.) For bolts and screws smaller than 1⁄4 in. [6 mm] in diameter and studs smaller than 3⁄8 in. [10 mm] in diameter and for 1⁄4 in. [6 mm] in diameter studs requiring more than a total of three symbols, the marking shall be a matter of agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer.
